Story So Far

Kaldra was raised deep within the mountains far north of the Steppe with his handful of siblings. He's the youngest of his brood, having spent long tundra days tumbling around in the snow and ice with his older siblings, Kaldaka and Guyya. In addition to his two older siblings he also has four younger siblings from separate broods, that he helped his older siblings and parents raise.As the centuries passed and Kaldra slowly came of age, he found himself getting more and more antsy for adventure as well as interactions outside his tightknit family group. And finally his mother pulled him aside, put a hand on his cheek and said with no subtly, "Kaldra get out of this den, you're stinking up the place. Go find a nice mate and come back when I have grandkids." And sent him on his way with a pack of snacks and a map to the nearest town.Since then Kaldra hasn't been back home, falling in love with traveling and the people he has met. He has a friendly disposition and most things roll off his broad shoulders. Kaldra is quick to flirt and is more than comfortable snuggling up to a new friend, regardless of how new they are. He's loud, great with kids and thinks fighting of any kind is a form of play.

Kaldra facts۞ Kaldra is a very healthy crystalhide with scales that shimmer with a deep orange hue.۞ His favorite rocks are fire opal and amber.۞ Kaldra's scent holds a touch of pine and snow, regardless of how far from home he gets.۞ Overly fond of pet names, will find at least one for everyone he meets. His favorites are: baby, pretty, little one and princess.۞ Despite his mother's insistence of finding a mate, he has zero interest in doing so and is more than happy to fool around.۞ In dragon form Kaldra is easily 16ft tall, and his raen form is 8'2". He has an in-between form that is about 9'8" but he rarely shows it off.۞ He can speak Draconic and Common, and a bit of Xaelic, but not a lot.۞ He makes big rumbles in his chest when hes happy or having a good time. They sound a bit like a growl mixed with a purr.۞ Kaldra's second set of horns aren't the only thing he has two of ;3

Crystalhides and the Xarzith's

Crystalhides are an original race of dragons made by two of my closest friends, I take no credit for them, but I'm honored to be given the reins to make my own dragon man.

Description of Crystalhides۞ Dragons that are covered with scales that look like Crystals that they eat. They come in a large range of colors as well as shapes and sizes.۞ They came about from the evolution of certain Drakes that ate magic crystals. The very crystal themselves changing their body and species. Since they look like other Dragon species they are often mixed up as the same type.۞ A family tends to all have the same common look, but mutations often happen in the form of more horns, scale placement, wing size, and other things.۞ Their diet also affects their look, both in the type of gems they eat (rough, polished, etc) and color (matches the gem color of their most often ate gem)۞ When they are young their scales tend to be clear, with their skin color showing through them.۞ Their horns are like Au Ra horns with how they do use them to hear, but they are much thicker and harder to break.۞ They tend to have a few sharp teeth, but most of them are flat to be able to break through gems and rocks. Their teeth tend to be harder than diamonds.۞ If a crystalhide lives off meat more than gems, clear red hue,and their scales will be thin. These Crystalhides also tend to have bad tempers due to being hungry, and often eat anything and everything.۞ Crystalhides keep growing throughout their life, some of the older ones are even said to be as big as mountains (normally these ones are asleep for years on years, and even turn into mountains if they don't wake up)۞ Crystalhides around 100 years old are adults, any younger and they are thought of as kids.۞ They have times were they will shed their old scales, so that they can have fresh knew ones. They are weakest at this point, and tend to hide until their fresh scales are hard.

Diet of Crystalhides۞ Crystalhides Diets are mostly rocks and gems. Though they are very picky about the type of gem they will eat.۞ Most Crystalhides tend to stick to one type of gem their whole lives, even forgoing food if they are unable to get it.۞ Almost all Crystalhides dislike eating gems with too much magic in them, and dislike even more eating crystals they can make since they are full of magic.۞ If they are on a healthy diet, they can go without eating for months, but they feel best eating a bit everyday.۞ Extra food does get stored in their tail, so they often have large tails to store it.۞ Some crystalhides do end up eating some meat, and it can be seen as a rare snack. Eating too much or only meat however can have bad effects on a crystalhide.۞ They can also eat just about anything, but other foods don't have as much of an effect on them.

Other things۞ Most like to keep to their family and stay hidden from other races, however that doesn't stop them all.۞ The reason they stay hidden is because after they die, they leave behind large crystal reserves where they have died. Depending on the type and size of the Dragon it can be a lot of money to kill one.۞ They can tell who their family is just by meeting them, mostly because family smells similar to them.۞ Crystalhides have learned to be able to take on the shape of other species to be able to blend in better. It can be tricky for them to take on the form of any race other than Au Ra however, and often their true features bleed through (Scale color, horn shape/amount)۞ Crystalhides are known to rub their horns against each other to show affection, they can do it because the other is family, or friends.۞ Sometimes they will attempt to do this to other species but it most often tends to end up in a headbutt.۞ They speak in Draconic, but many of them also know common.

Xarzith Family Specifics۞ Xarzith is family name, they lived in Kugane for a long time before going into hiding, and thus grew accustomed to the naming conventions. It means 'Ice'.۞ Being from the frozen north, Kaldra's family mutated to have thick fur in dragon form, and manes of fur in their more in-between forms. In addition to fur they also mutated warmer blood to help them stay warm and toasty in the cold. This means that Kaldra melts in the heat.۞ Kaldra and all his siblings are named after animals his mother saw in their new home in the tundra, Kaldra's name specifically means 'Fox'.
